Yowza! Now that’s a prize worth winning. Peter Temple won the Miles Franklin award for his crime novel Truth. The prize? A cool $42,000.

The sequel to The Broken Shore has won Temple the $42,000 prize in Sydney Tuesday night, beating five other short-listed contenders.

Temple has published nine novels and won the Ned Kelly Award for Crime Fiction five times.

He says winning the highly acclaimed prize was overwhelming.

“I feel enormously elated by it. A wonderful experience,” he said.
