The Troika by Stepan Chapman

I first heard about The Troika by Stepan Chapman in Jeff VanderMeer’s article at the Fantastic Metropolis site in 2002. I knew when reading the article that I just had to read this book. So I went to Amazon, bought a copy, and devoured it. Five years after it was published. I can’t even pretend to be one of the cool kids who got in on the ground level.

The Troika remains, to this day, the rare book that melted my brain. A holy shit book if there ever was one.

For awhile it seemed like it was passed around as a whispered code like walking up to someone on the sly and dragging half a Jesus fish in the dirt with your foot. Those in the know nodded and those that weren’t wanted to know more.

Check it. The Troika. One of the most mind blowingly original books in recent memory just came out as an affordable ebook. So grab a copy. Like now.

I can’t wait to read it again.
